Employee of the Month: Valerie Mitchell

The Assisted Housing Department choose Valerie Mitchell for Employee of the Month for the month of November.

Valerie has worked in the Assisted Housing Department as a customer service representative for almost 3 years and in that short amount of time has demonstrated remarkable leadership skills. She ensures the customer service day to day operations function effectively so that the fast-paced demand and challenges often experienced are managed efficiently. Valerie takes pride in her work and is demonstrated by assuming responsibilities without being asked. She became very knowledgeable with rent café and took the lead in training other team members as well as assisting families with the software so the recertification could be completed timely. Valerie is often the person that all her team members go to assist with customer questions and software issues. Valerie is sincerely compassionate and empathetic with the clients that we serve, and she tries her best to assist all clients in a calm and professional manner. Valerie quietly defuses potential disruptions in the customer service area and very rarely requests security intervention. Demonstrating her teamwork attitude, Valerie volunteered to take part in the agency's outreach during Hurricane Milton helping others with resources and further assistance. Valerie has consistently been a team player and is always willing to offer assistance for other team members within our department. Valerie is a great asset to the department and agency and deserves recognition as employee of the month.
