Additional Info:

Located in Tampa's historic Old Seminole Heights, Oaks at Riverview created a celebrated mixed-use, mixed-income community comprised of 346 homeownership, rental, and seniors units, 5,000 SF of retail, a 5,000 residential community complete with a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool, and an 8,000 SF senior health center, and a 16,000 SF community recreation center.

The Housing Authority was awarded a HOPE VI revitalization grant in November 2001 in the amount of $19,937,572, which combined with two previously awarded grants for the 76 Tom Dyer units in the amount of $3,329,159, provided a total of $23,266,731 in grant funds in support of this redevelopment activity. The demolition of 360 units on the site was completed in August of 2003. Financial closing on the rental community occurred in March 2004 with site development and building construction starting in April 2004.

The Oaks at Riverview includes 250 rental units (76 units of senior housing and 174 family units), 96 homeownership units, and community amenities. These amenities include a multi-purpose resident services center housing a property management office, computer center, meeting space, day care center, and pool; commercial rental/ business incubator space; play spaces, and a proposed adjacent recreation/ community center. The community was designed as a City neighborhood with building designs that reflect the architecture of the surrounding historic Old Seminole Heights area and new through streets that connect the development to the adjacent neighborhood

Much of the extensive existing tree canopy has been retained and will contribute to the feel of an established neighborhood. The first 5 rental buildings were completed in July 2005 and leased fully by late September 2005. Homeownership units were constructed and sold in 2006. And a Community Center and Senior Services Center were completed and opened in 2009.
